Ronald Lee Reiniche, 72, Kankakee, IL

Ron Reiniche Obit PicRonald Lee Reiniche 72, of Denton, TX and formerly of the Chebanse and Kankakee areas passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 26, 2013, at the home of his son in Kankakee following a lengthy illness. Mr. Reiniche was born on July 3, 1941 at Kankakee, the son of Leroy and Eleanor I. Sorenson Reiniche, his parents are deceased.

He is survived by three sons, one daughter-in-law and two daughters, Billy Reiniche of Kankakee, Marc Reiniche of Bourbonnais, Ronnie W. (Sara) Reiniche of Denton, TX, Cindy Fout of Indiana and Renee Price of Iowa; nineteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Ruth Ann (Randy) Henneike of Martinton, Vickie (Jim) Harner of Woodland, Kathy Kline of Anna, Donna Mae Sievers of Bradley, Dona Rae (Ron) Benoit of Knox, IN and Rickie Dean Reiniche of Bradley.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reiniche was also preceded in death by a brother, Vic Reiniche; a son, Ronald; and a daughter, Nicki .

Mr. Reiniche was a retired carpenter and had worked many years for Azzarelli Construction and also was self employed in residential and commercial construction. He enjoyed stock car racing, country music and singing. Mr. Reiniche was a veteran of service with the US Army.

Graveside services with military rites will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the Limestone Cemetery in rural Kankakee.

Friends may call on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton, IL. Memorials are for the Donor’s Choice.

Lucille Marcier Obit PicLucille Marcier, 90, of Watseka passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.

Lucille was born February 11, 1923 in Tuttle, ND, the daughter of James and Geraldine Alder Barber.  She married Wilburn H. “Ben” Marcier on May 10, 1942 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2006.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Roger) Dillon of Watseka, Marcia (Dan) Adams of Watseka and Anna Walter of Lake Zurich; two sons, Michael (Becky) Marcier and Benny (Dianne) Marcier all of Watseka; one brother, William Leroy Barber of Ottawa; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Chuck and James Barber; and twin sons, James and Joseph.

Mrs. Marcier was a member of St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka, American Legion Auxiliary and Watseka Elks Lodge.  She loved animals, fishing, bingo, dancing and playing cards.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.  Fr. Michael Powell will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice or Donor’s Choice.

Mary Rosalie Blotcky, 92, Normal, IL

Mary Rosalie Blotcky, 92, of Normal, IL, formerly of Onarga, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Heritage Health in Mendota, IL. 

Mary, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, was born December 12, 1921, in Gilman, the daughter of Louis Wasmer and Martha Washburn Wasmer.  She married Byron Lindsey Blotcky on August 28, 1943 in Camp Lejeune, NC where he was stationed with the US Marine Corp.  He passed March 14, 2011.  She is survived by her three sons, Ronald Lindsey Blotcky of Ridgecrest, CA, Gary Lee (Nancy) Blotcky of Manitowoc, WI and Byron William Blotcky of Bloomington; and one daughter, Susan Osa (Roger) Essmann of Earlville; thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her beloved sister, Lucille “Cille” (John) Kremer of Sarasota, Fla.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her older siblings Francis “Pank”, Ed “Bud”, Helen, Esther, and one infant son, Thomas.

She graduated from Illinois State University, and first taught in the one room school house west outside of Gilman near her family farm, and later was a substitute teacher and housewife.  She lived in Onarga, IL, and moved to Normal IL in the late 90s.  She played the organ at services at the Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman, was on PTA, the Library board in Onarga, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Normal, was an excellent cook, housewife, volunteer, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chung, his staff and Heritage Health where she spent the last year of her life under their excellent care.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in Onarga Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Illinois State University or the Salvation Army.

Joanne Theesfeld, 85, Cissna Park, IL

Joanne Theesfeld, 85, of Cissna Park passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.

Joanne was born June 3, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Edward and Kathleen Miller Zoellner.  She married Edward Theesfeld on March 21, 1954 in Valley Mills, IN and he survives.

Besides her husband Edward, she is survived by one son, Tom (Diane) Theesfeld of Rankin; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Donna Smith.

Mrs. Theesfeld was a member at the former Union Church in Cissna Park.  She was a former board member of both the Cissna Park Board of Education and Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department.  Joanne was a registered nurse for many years at the Hoopeston Hospital and Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Creekside Terrace in Cissna Park.  Rev. Steve Anderson will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Cissna Park Ambulance or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Matthew T. Riley, 50, of Prophetstown, IL and formerly of Watseka, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

Matt was born August 24, 1963 in Watseka, the son of Thomas and Sherry Fanning Riley. Survivors include his parents of Watseka; one brother, Mark (Sherrill) Riley of Santa Rosa, CA.; and one foster brother, Ronald (Julee) Jensen of Crete.

Matt enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls.

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka with Rev. Tom McCann officiating.

Jackie Kissack Obit PicJackie R. Kissack Jr., 36, of Danforth passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.

Jackie was born April 14, 1977 in Watseka, the son of Jackie and Donna Farris Kissack. He married Samantha Brandenburg on August 15, 1997 in Watseka and she survives.

Besides his wife, Samantha, he is survived by one son, Skyler Kissack of Danforth; mother, Donna Farris of Watseka; father and step mother, Jackie (Lori) Kissack of Watseka; one sister, Amber (Danny) Kendall of Watseka; and paternal grandfather, Richard Kissack of Watseka.

Jackie enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and NASCAR.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Pastor Jerry Parker will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Robin L. Scharp, 51, of Roberts and formerly of Buckley, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at her home.

Robin was born December 19, 1962 in Watseka, the daughter of Leroy and Jewell Vibbert Scharp and they preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Leah (Blayde) Jungels of Watseka and Jerica Harweger of Champaign; one son, Garrett Scharp of Roberts; two sisters, Linda Clark of Champaign and Joy Livesay of Ft. Worth, TX; and two grandchildren, Keegan Andre and Ava Jungels.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton.  Pastor Jerry Parker will officiate.  A memorial visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014, at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton.

Mary Jane Berg Obit PicMary Jane Berg, 92, of Clifton passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Clifton.

Mary Jane was born November 17, 1921 in Hiteman, IA, a daughter of Peter and Antonia Marca Salato. She married Raymond W. Berg on October 21, 1944 in Joliet, IL and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1996.

Survivors include one daughter, Tanna (Larry) Behrends of Clifton; one sister, Lillie Minarich of Joliet; four grandchildren, Jill Call, Nichole Parmley, Neil Behrends, and Matthew Berg; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Felix and Elmer Salato; three sisters, Margaret Compagna, Helen Bajt, and Louise Menegon; one son, Donald Berg; and one grandchild, Michael Berg.

Mrs. Berg was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Clifton and CCW. She was a graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing. Mary Jane worked at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, Central Hospital in Clifton, as an Occupational Nurse at Texise, as well as Assistant to Personal Manager at Texise for 26 ½ years. She was past president of both GFWC and Semoniz Credit Union. She enjoyed flower gardening, bridge, sewing, and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Clifton. Fr. Vern Arseneau will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Clifton.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January, 9, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton and 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Peters Catholic Church in Clifton.

Thomas E. Dickenson, 71, of Onarga passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.

Thomas was born August 3, 1942 in Onarga, the son of George and Frances Seipel Dickenson.  He married Brenda Shelton on July 17, 1965 in Manchester, TN.  He later married Kathryn A. Trombly on August 15, 1980 in Watseka and she preceded him in death on August 26, 2011.

He is survived by one daughter, Shari (David) Sumrall of Chebanse; one son, Keith Paradise of Tennessee; two brothers, Gene (Nancy) Dickenson of Crescent City and George (Sue) Dickenson of Onarga; one sister, Sharon Bennett of Eastpointe, MI; former sister-in-law, Dorothy Dickenson of Onarga; one step-son, Clifford Wayne Wilson of Onarga; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Dickenson; two sons, Dean and Kerry Dickenson; one step-son, Mike Wilson; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Dickenson served in the Air Force from 1962-1966 and worked on the docks for Roadway Trucking.  He enjoyed his dog, Sissy, gardening, yardwork and his man cave.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial to be in the Onarga Cemetery.

Memorials may be made for the family’s wishes.

William (Bill) Reinhart Carman, 75, of Kankakee and formerly of Watseka, passed away at 9:10am Friday January 10, 2014 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.

Bill was born on May 16, 1938 in Rensselaer, IN a son of John (Jack) and Opal May Sigman Carman.  He attended Rensselaer schools and worked at US Steel in Gary, IN.

Surviving are his wife, Delores Carman of Milford, IL; 1 daughter- Ann Marie (Gary) Brady of Milford; 2 sisters- Sarah Jane Halleck of Eldersburg, MD and Betty Delphyne Isaacson of Manteno; 1 brother- Robert (Joan) Carman of Punta Gorda, FL.  Also surviving are 2 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers- Paul and Jack Carman, and 3 sisters- Vida Carman, Opal Carman, and Annabelle Ames.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Rev. Wes Osborn officiating.  Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Monday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Bertha D. Hartman, 100, Woodworth, IL

Bertha D. Hartman, 100, of Woodworth passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.

Bertha was born December 23, 1913 in Onarga, the daughter of Heinrich and Katherine Schleef Borman.  She married Albert Hartman on June 8, 1961 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1985.

She is survived by two step-daughters, Arleen Bohlmann of Watseka and Lorraine Giertz of Springfield, MO.; ten step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dick Borman and one sister, Erna Cluver.

Mrs. Hartman was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth where she also served as a member of the Church Alter Guild and Ladies Aid.  Her hobbies included quilting and the translating of German into English.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth.  Rev. Benjamin Meyer will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.

Darwin D. Humphrey, 53, of Wood River, IL and formerly of Onarga, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.

Mr. Humphrey was born March 8, 1960 in Fairbury, the son of Gary and Ruth Niswander Humphrey. His father, Gary, preceded him in death.

Darwin is survived by his mother and step father, Ruth (Charles) Roque of Gibson City; one sister, Kristy (Dave) Siebert of Saybrook; two nieces, Katie (Ryan) Clements and Taylor Siebert; and one great niece, Harlow Clements.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Rev. Brent Zastrow will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Onarga Cemetery in Onarga.

Naomi Pickens Flesher, 101, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Watseka Rehab & Health Care Center.

Naomi was born July 6, 1912 in Watseka, the daughter of Joseph L. and Lemar Ann Stone Pickens.  She married Gerald V. Flesher on April 27, 1940 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1992.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Rev. Dr. David) McWilliams of Lakeland, FL; two sons, Robert (Donna) Flesher of Watseka and Rev. Col. Charles J. (Linda) Flesher of Carroll, OH; five grandchildren, Kristin (Brad) Scholtens of Grayslake, Beth (Greg) Holcomb of Springfield, Tonia (Dave) Wess of Greenville, SC, Tricia (Brian) Whitney of Carroll, OH and Dr. Timothy (Jen) Flesher of Carroll, OH; and eight great-grandchildren, Peter Scholtens of Grayslake; Luke, Ryan, Andrew & Kate Wess of Greenville, SC; and Brandon, Blake & Brooke Whitney of Carroll, OH.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Earl Pickens, Fay Pickens, William Martin & Joseph Pickens; and three sisters, Birdella Gavan, Stella Reeder & her twin, Norma Pickens.

Mrs. Flesher was a member of the First Baptist Church in Watseka, a 46 year member of V.F.W. and a 64 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was the 1st Miss Iroquois County in 1934.  Naomi worked for the Iroquois County Draft Board from 1942-1945 and was a 4-H Leader for many years and also a Brownie Scout Leader.

Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.  Rev. Dr. David McWilliams and Rev. Col. Charles J. Flesher will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home.

Walter Lee Matson, 83, of Milford passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home.

Walter was born September 22, 1930 in Milford, the son of George and Eva Burgett Matson.  He married Mary Purcell on June 24, 1950 in Gilman and she survives.  Also surviving are one son, Johnny Lee (Deann) Matson of Baton Rouge, LA; one granddaughter, Meggan; and one grandson, Michael.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and one son.

Private burial will take place with arrangements by Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.

Mr. Krueger was born on May 10, 1962 at Clifton, the son of Steven W. and Betty Jane Magruder Krueger. His father is deceased. He married the former Lora Ann Keleher at Las Vegas, NV on March 2, 2002 and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, Nicholas S. Krueger, Timothy Windt and Anthony Windt all at home; his mother, Betty Jane Krueger of Kankakee; a sister and brother in law, Lisa and Todd Lemenager of Ashkum; two nephews, Troy (Tiffany) Lemenager and Cody Lemenager all of Ashkum; and ten aunts and uncles, Tom and Debbie Krueger of Danforth, JoAnn Scharp of Clifton, Norman and Lovie Magruder of LasVegas NV, Patsy and Bruce Hancasky of Wilmington, Geraldine Fulton of Sun City, CA and Carolyn and Steve Benoit of Kankakee.

Mr. Krueger was a heavy equipment operator and belonged to Operating Engineers Local 150. He was a member of the Clifton Lions Club, a former member of the Clifton Village Board and an avid golfer. A life long farmer, he loved farming.

Richard was born January 17, 1931 in Dwight, IL, the son of Richard and Alean Hamilton Shapland. 

Survivors include his former wife, Mary Shapland of Bourbonnais; one son, Richard (Carol) Shapland of Lake Forest, IL; three daughters, Debra (Richard) Welch of Lombard, Cathy Cords of Middleton, WI, and Carol Savoie of Beverly Hills, CA; four brothers, Raymond (Roswitha) Shapland of Commerce, GA, Vernon (Veronica) Shapland of Melvin, Ronald (Diane) Shapland of Cullom, and William Shapland of Cullom; two sisters, Edith (Benny) Swager of Bloomington, IL and Marge (John) Shuemaker of Neoga, IL; three grandchildren, Jeff Shapland, Jennifer Shapland, and Natalie Welch; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ann Shapland.

Mr. Shapland enjoyed fishing, hunting, and crossword puzzles.  He served in the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

Ms. Papineau was born in Kankakee on November 19, 1971, the daughter of Leroy and Deborah Crawford Papineau, her parents are deceased. She never married. Surviving are a half-brother, John (Marcia) Shamblin of Montgomery, IL; and a step-brother and step-sister, David Phillips and Heather Phillips. Ms. Papineau was also preceded in death in addition to her parents by a half-sister, Amy Shamblin.

Ms. Papineau was a former employee of KCTC. She enjoyed sports and had participated in the Special Olympics many times. She liked to read and play video games.

Lawrence L. “Larry” Saindon, 74, of Clifton passed away at his residence in Clifton on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014, following a lengthy illness. A Memorial Mass will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Clifton, the Rev. Vern Arseneau will officiate. Larry was born on October 12, 1939 near St. Anne, the son of Louie and Lucille Regnier Saindon, his parents are deceased. He married the former Cherril “Cherie” Rabideau on August 18, 1962 at L’Erable and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Amy (James) Buck of Bradley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew (Elizabeth) Saindon of Takoma Park, MD and Thomas (Denise) Saindon of Frankfort; five grandchildren, Conor and Jaxon Buck, Nathan Saindon, Ellyn Saindon and Adriana Saindon; one sister, Louana Arseneau of Laguna Woods, CA; and one brother and three sisters-in-law, James (Pam) Saindon of Kankakee, Frances Saindon of Lexington, KY and Ramona Orwig of Clifton. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Thomas Paul Saindon; and three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Les Arseneau, Lorene O’Conner, Bernard Rabideau and Ray Orwig.

Larry was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church at Clifton and Teamsters Local 710. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and traveling. He had worked at Kankakee Roper for 18 years, was retired from UPS after 26 years as a route deliveryman, and had worked for 1st Trust of Illinois as a courier for 10 years.  Larry was a veteran of service with the US Army National Guard.

Grady Ray Bell Jr., 62, of Goodwine passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his sister’s residence in Goodwine.

Grady was born August 1, 1951 in Chicago, the son of Grady R. and Marian Best Bell Sr. and they preceded him in death along with one brother, Terry L. Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Bell of Mississippi; three sisters, Pamela C. Bell of Watseka, April (Scott) Frye of Goodwine and Marie Bell of Joliet; two brothers, Danny Archer of Watseka and James Bell of Plainfield; two sons, Grady Ray (April) Bell III of Woodworth and Donald (Valerie) of West Frankfort; two daughters, Shauntel Bell of Watseka and Dina of Tinley Park; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.  Pastor Ronald Childress will officiate.  Burial will be in Amity Cemetery in Goodwine.

Memorials may be made for the family’s wishes.

Mariann Lala Hawk, 67, Paxton, IL

Mariann Lala Hawk, 67, of Paxton passed away on Tuesday, January 21 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Mariann was born May 25, 1946 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Virginia Russo Lala.  She married James Dale Hawk Sr. in Chicago and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2006 along with her parents; one brother, Anthony; and one granddaughter, Heather Hawk.

She is survived by one daughter, Kim (Luke) Hollen of Paxton; two sons, Paul Joseph (Cherish) Hawk of Rankin and James Dale Hawk Jr. of Paxton; one brother, Tony (Nancy) Lala of Skokie; one sister, Josephine Zuccarello of Brookfield; eighteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mariann was a co-founding member of “Elvis That’s The Way It Is” of Chicago.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton.  Jim Wood will officiate.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
